Lt. Roy M Powell, 23, husband of Mrs. Zeida Powell of Cold
Spring, and son of Mr. and Mrs. Tony E Powell, of 2 Summer Hill avenue, Newport,
has been missing in action in Germany since Dec 24, his parents were informed.
Serving as a navigator on a B-17 bomber, Lt. Powell was stationed with the Eighth Air Force somewhere in England.

DECLARED DEAD-Lt. Roy H Powell, 23, navigator of a B-17, reported missing over Belgium Dec 24, 1944 was declared officially dead in a communication received by his family Friday. The husband of Mrs. Zelda Powell and the son of Mr. and Mrs. Tony E Powell, 2 Summer Hill avenue, Newport. Lt. Powell was last seen bailing otu as his parachute opened. Only five of the crew were taken prisoners. No word was heard from the others.
The Powells have a 7 month old son Roy. Jr.
