Old Tombstone is Unearthed
Workmen, while engaged in excavating for a new stone wall to be built around the Eighth-st. School, yesterday unearthed a tombstone bearing the date of 1840. The place where the stone was found was formerly a burying ground. The inscription showed that the stone at one time marked the grave of Sarah Ann Spear, 30, wife of David Spear.
The stone was turned over to Secretary John Whitehouse of the Newport Board of Education.
