T A Daniel, son of the late Beverly and Harriet Colvin Daniel, was born Feb 3, 1867 and passed away on Wednesday, March 9 at 7 o'clock PM at his home near Grants Lick, after a long illness of heart trouble. He was of a family of five children of whom only two survive, one sister, Mrs. Adelaide Bryan and one brother William Daniel. Mr. Daniel was united in marriage to Miss Sallie Clemans on Sept 1, 1887 and they had the privilege of each others companionship for more than half a century. Last Sep 1 was one of the great days of their lives, when on that occasion; their golden wedding day.
Eight children came to bless their home of whom five survive; Mrs. Geo Baker and Mrs. Benn Stratman, both of Grants Lick, Gilbert Daniel of Newport, Mrs. Ward Gosney and Mrs. Elva Dunaway of Butler. There are fifteen grandchildren and one great grandchild. Mr. Daniel made a profession of faith in his Savior many years ago and united with the Grants Lick Baptist Church and was also a member of Grants Lick County NO 50, Jr. QUAM for many years.
He was a man of wisdom and understanding and obtained his college education in those early days when it required great courage and sacrifice, but with great ambition he possessed he pressed forward until the high standard was reached. He then made the best use of his education. He was considered one of the best teachers of his time and taught in the public schools almost forty years. One outstanding feature of his success was his kindness and patience with children.
Although having retired from his profession several years, he never tired and always delighted in talking about school days. On his bed of affliction even to the last hour, he would brighten and cheer up when his former pupils visited him and talked of his achievements. His life has not been lived in vain. There was marked devotion in this little family circle between father and children. They not only benefited by his guidance at home, but by being his pupils at school. His grandchildren also were very dear to him, also his great grandchild Allen Baker. All will miss him greatly especially his devoted companion who stood so loyally by him through his long illness, gently ministering day and night.
Saturday, March 12, a large cortège of relatives and friends followed in procession to the church of his faith. There services were held with his pastor, Rev D P DeHart, very ably officiating. In that large congregation of friends he asked all who had been Mr. Daniel's pupils to arise for a moment of silent tribute and a great number rose. At the family's request the minister sang "Will The Circle Be Unbroken? and the choir sang "We'll Never Say Goodbye in Heaven", the latter song his favorite song for the close of school. Mrs. M B Baker presided over the piano.
Flower bearers; Doris Jean Dunaway, Stanley Gosney, Kenneth Stratman, Charles, Eva Mae and Darlene Baker and Allen, Donald and Gerald Daniel. Casket bearers were six nephews; Roy and Ernest Daniel, Thurman Bryan and Holman, Oliver and Louis Marsh. The new mound in Oakland Cemetery is completely hidden by lovely blossoms which in time will fade away, but the memory of a life well lived will dwell in the hearts and minds of loved ones forever. Funeral directors Smith & Sheanshang had charge of the arrangements.

Funeral services for T A Daniel retired teacher of the Campbell county public schools, will be held Saturday at 2 pm at Grants Lick Baptist Church. Burial will be in Oakland Cemetery with Smith & Sheanshang in charge. Mr. Daniel who retired from teaching eight years ago after serving for 40 years, died yesteday at his home in Grants Lick. He was 71.
He was a member of the Grants Lick Baptist Church and Grants Lick Council No 59 Jr. OUAM. Survives him are his widow, Sally Daniel; one son, Gilbert of Newport; four daughters, Mrs. George Baker and Mrs. Ben Stratman, Grants Lick and Mrs. Ward Gosney and Mrs. Elva Dunaway, Butler; one sister Mrs. Adelaide Bryan, Butler, a brother William; 45 grandchildren and one great grandchild.
