Samuel Byland

 

From Alexandria Will Book C, page 21

 

I. Samuel Byland of Campbell County, KY in order to make a just distribution of my estate after my decease do make this instrument to be my last Will and Testament Viz---I give to my wife Mary and my daughter Eliz, jointly all my stock of Horned Cattle, all my Hogs now put to fatten and all the corn now on my farm; 

All my other property I direct to be sold and the money arising from said sale together with any pension money that is due to me shall be equally divided between my wife Mary and my two daughters, Melinda and Eliza.  I give to the Legal heirs of my deceased son Elias five dollars.  I give to my sons John, Elijah, Moses and Aaron five dollars each.

I direct that my wife Mary shall have the use of one third part of the farm on which I now live including the Mansion House during life; the income arising from the other two thirds of the said farm shall be equally divided between my two daughters Melinda and Elisa. At my wife's deceasing, I direct the whole tract of land including said farm containing two hundred & twenty acres more or less to descend to my son Green and my two daughters Melinda & Eliza in equal parts.  The profits or money that my contingently become part of my estate as the title to some land which I purchased is in dispute I give to my wife Mary and my daughters jointly.  i appoint my friend William B Northcutt, Esquire to execute my will.

In testimony whereof I have hereunto placed my signature and affixed my seal this 19th day of Octobert 1833. In the presence of Isaac Ewitt, John Bravand and David Ragan.
