WORKER-It has been our observation over the years that no matter where you go, you'll always find, whether it be in a business concern or municipality, one class of workers who do their jobs conscientiously and with their employer's welfare at heart. We're reminded of the good job a former Newport official did down through the years, even when ill health worked against him at every turn.

We refer to William J (Tug) McKeown, Newport city license inspector since 1938, who never did anything but a good job for the city and the people he served. Tug died Thursday of a heart attack at 71 years of age. His record of public service was without blemish from the time, more than half a century ago when he served in the Spanish American War. Newport has lost a good public official as it probably already knows.
