NEWPORT-The General Court Martial, of wich Brevet Major York is president, is hereby dissolved. Recruit William Morrison of general service, USA. Charge-Desertion. Specification-In this, that he, the said recruit, William Morrison, did desert the same on or about the 25th of November, 1866, at Newport Barracks Ky. and did remain absent until apprehended at or near Dayton Ohio, on the 26th day of November 1866. Thirty dollars being paid for his apprehension.

To which charge and specification the prisoner pleaded as follow: Guilty; to the charge, Guilty. Findings, Guilty. Sentence-And the court does therefore sentence him, to be dishonorably discharged the service of the United States, with the loss of all pay and allowances now due or to become due and to be confined at hard labor in such penitentiary as the reviewing officer may direct for the period of three years.

The proceedings and findings in the cases of recruits William Morrison and Zachariah Andre are approved. The sentences awarded them by the Court are confirmed, but mitigated in each case to forfeiture of all pay and allowances due them up to the date of this order and ten dollars per month for eighteen months, during which time they will be confined in charge of the guard at the post at which they may be serving.
