PROMOTED-William Tressler, C&O watchman at Silver Grove, was Friday appointed chief detective of the yards. He has been in the service but two months and was partner of Leslie Johnson, recently shot and killed. Tressler took charge of the years Friday evening.

OWNER SOUGHT-William Tressler, Campbell co. constable, was searching Friday for the operator of a 100 gallon still which he confiscated Thursday in a log house on Licking pike, two miles south of Newport. No one was present when Tressler, with William Bailey, of the Tricity Detective Agency, raided the dwelling. the still and 45 barrels of mash were seized.

SHOOTING-An investigation was being made Monday by authorities of the shooting Sunday night of William Tressler, 47, constable of 20 Brentwood pl Ft Thomas, by autoists on Second Pooles Creek rd. south of Newport. Tressler is confined to his home in a serious condition suffering from charges from a shotgun. The gunmen are believed to be three bandits who robbed Charles Flynn, 311 W Sixth st. Newport. Tressler had been notified of the robbery and with Harrison Herms, Ft Thomas patrolman, went to the scene to investigate.
Upon entering Pooles Creek rd. the officers observed a parked auto in which three men were seated. Driving beyond the auto Tressler alighted. As he did a shot was fired and felled Tressler. Herms removed Tressler to his home.

SERIOUS-Condition of William Tressler, 47, constable, ambushed Sunday night by gunmen on Second Pooles Creek rd. south of Newport, was reported very serious Tuesday by Speers Hospital attaches. Tressler was struck in the back bytwo charges from an automatic shotgun.

WOUNDS FATAL-Campbell co. officials had another criminal mystery to solve Friday in the death of Constable William Tressler, 47, Ft Thomas, Thursday night at Speers Hospital in Dayton Ky. Tressler noted fro his liquor raids, was ambushed and shot Sunday night by three autoists on Second Pooles Creek rd. He had several charges from a shotgun in his back.

MYSTERIOUS CALLS-Mrs. Hattie Tressler, widow of William Tressler, constable, said a man's voice over the phone Friday said, "I know who killed your husband." Before she could question the informant he hung up. Funeral services for Tressler will be conducted Monday at 2 pm from his residence. Rev J Newton Cloe will conduct the services.
