CHARITIES REMEMBERED

The will of Louis C. WIdrig, former pharmacist and treasurer of the Cincinnati Baseball Club, who died last month in New York, was probated Saturday before Judge Conrad Matz in Campbell County Court. The will directs that all Widrig’s property, both real and personal, be converted as soon as possible into cash.  It also directs that all claims against the estate be paid before distribution of the various bequests, which are as follows:

To Father John L. Gorey, former pastor of the Immaculate Conception Church, Newport, $1000 for masses and $500 for personal use. Father Gorey has died since the writing of the will.

TO St. Joseph Orphanage, Cold Spring: the Protestant Orphan Asylum, Clifton; St. Elizabeth Hospital, Covington; and the House of Good Shepherd, Ft. Thomas, $1000 each.

 To Miss Mary Katherine Sanford, Widrig’s former housekeeper, $10,000.

Housekeeper remembered

To each of his seven namesakes, Louis Gorey, Covington; Louis Aylward, Cincinnati; Louis Morton, Cleveland; Louis Dempsey, Newport; Louis Krebs, Hamilton and Louis Arata, Cincinnati; $1000 each. Krebs is the son of Widrig’s sister and Dempsey is the son of his partner in the drug business in Newport.

To each of Widrig’s nephews and nieces, 20 of them in all, the will bequeaths $1000 each.

The remainder of the estate is to be divided share and share alike between three of his sister, Angela Enneking, Ft. Thomas; Rosalie Krebs, Hamilton; and Mary Krebs, Metropolic, Ill.

FRIEND IS EXECUTOR

Joseph J. Meagher, cashier of the Newport National Bank and lifelong friend of Widrig, is nominated as executor by the will, which was dated March 19, 1924, and witnessed by Widrig’s business partner, Walter Dempsey.

Widrig’s will did not mention his brother, Edwin, a pharmacist, operating a drug store at Third and Saratoga streets, Newport, or his sister, Emma, a nun, now believed to be living in Canada.
