William Burns

 

Original at the Alexandria Courthouse Will Book A, 28 March 1814, page 204

 

In the name of God Amen, I, William burns of the County of Campbell and the State of Kentucky, a farmer, being very sick and weak in body but perfect in mind & Memory, thanks be given unto God calling unto mind the mortallity of my body and knowledge, that it is appointed for all men once to die, do make & ordain this my last will & testament that is to say especially and first of all, I give & bequeath that my soul unto the Land and almighty God that gave it & my body recommend to the earth is to be buried in a decent Christian burial at the discretion of the Executors northing doubting.  But at the general resurrection I shall receive the same again by the mighty Power of God and a towering such Worldly Estate where with it has placed God. ____cless me in this life I give demire? and disposed of the same in the following manner and form. 

First, I give & bequeath all to my well beloved wife, Mary, all the property that I know enjoy, to be held by her during her life time & to be dispersed of as she takes proper at her death excepting one certain roan Colt to David Anderson, my dearly beloved Son & I give to my well beloved son James Burns, one heffer and to my son Daniel, one Dollar, to my son Samuel, one Dollar & I do herby utterly disallow, remove and dismantle and every other former Testament Will, Legacies, bequests & bequeaths Ratifying, & Confirming to this & no other to be my last Will & Testament in Witness before the Law on this the twenty-seventh day of December in the year of our Lord eighteen hundred & thirteen.

Signed, Sealed, published, pronounced & declared by the said William Burns as his last will and testament in his presence and in the presence of each other have here unto subscribed our names.

I, George Gordon, deputy Clerk of the County aforesaid, do certify that the foregoing Will of William Burns was proven in Open Court March 28, 1814 by the Oats of Benjamin McFarland and David Cooper to be his last will & testament & was orderd to be recorded & that the same is truly recorded in Will Book files 200 Given under my hand this 30th day of March 1814.
