Looking for any information on my GGG
grandfather, Jesse WALKER, b. 7/11/1795 in Allegany Co.,MD. He was married to
Catherine. I don't know her maiden name. She was born 8/20/1801 in Allegany Co.
The family moved to Knox Co.,Ohio around 1840. They then moved to Fulton Co.,
IL, where they both died. Jesse died 7/26/1876 and Catherine died 8/5/1859.

Does
anyone have any information about the GLADFELTY family? Alexander GLADFELTY
married Louisa OHAVER. Their children were Chester, Eva Maud, Lulu, and Stella.
Eva Maud married George B. PERCY and they moved to central Ohio. George is the
son of William R. PERCY who built the Gladstone (Fallinger's Hotel Gunter) along
with his son-in-law Gladstone HITCHINS. George and Eva are my great-
grandparents. I do know some of the PERCY history thanks to the local museum in
Frostburg, but of course I have many missing piecs to the family history. I can
not seem to trace the GLADFELTY's back any farther than Alexander. They were
originally in Meyersdale, PA.

confirm the parents of Caleb MCKENZIE Sr, born abt 1780/1789 in Anne Arundel,
MD. Married Margaret Mattingly MAGERS in 1810 in Allegany County, MD. Moved to
Knox County Ohio where he died. One researcher says he is the son of Aaron
MCKENZIE and Rachel HARP. Indicates a will written by Aaron in 1821 in Baltimore
Co, MD. Aaron was born in 1740. I have not seen this will. Need proof of this
relationship. Another source says Caleb is the son of Jonathan MCKENZIE (son of

I had posted an earlier message that I am now updating. Shannon
Lee JONES' birth name was Channing Lee JONES. He married a Margaret Virginia
ROBI(N)SON on June 4, 1918. Her surname on the certificate states ROBISON but I
am not sure if that is correct yet.
Also, James JONES is not buried in
Greenmount Cemetery. His son, James Clifford JONES is. Born 7/23/1891 and died
9/30/1953. I was looking for just a Clifford JONES. His wife's name was Florence
DARKEY, born 12/21/1899 in Town Creek, Md.
I have two Aunts of whom I

I am looking for
some information on Thomas REID who married Polly (Mary) KIRSHNER in 1803 at
Cumberland MD. Her fathers name was Michael KIRSHNER and he was a veteran of the
Revolution from 1776 to 1779. He enlisted at Baltimore and was assigned to the
German Unit of Pennsylvania and Maryland. He was listed as building a house on
the corner of Green St. in Cumberland in 1790.
I have a copy of his will 1823
that eventually gives his property to his grandchildren. Half of all the propery
goes to the Children of Mary his daughter who is married to Thomas REID and half
goes to the children of Mary Catherine who married a Peter LOUDERMILK. The REID
children included George (my gg grandfather) and others as I know them are
Cecelia who married Thomas HAYS, Thomas who married Sara MCVICKER, and Ann who
married William CRAVER. In an earlier query I listed Thomas REID as being on the
fire dept. but it may have been his son Thomas. There are two other children
named in the will that I do not have any record of.
Any help on finding
any information on the Thomas REID that was married in 1803 would be very much
appreciated. Thanks.

I am searching for information about James PRICE. He
was born app. 1833 in Manchester, England. He married Elizabeth WHIPP, 1855, in
Manchester, England. James PRICE was killed in a railroad accident near
Frostburg, Maryland, in or before 1868. I have been told he is buried in
Frostburg, Maryland. Elizabeth WHIPP and their children moved to Cardonia,
Indiana in 1868 after the death of James PRICE. They were found in the 1870
Census living in Mt. Savage.

the parents of John W. WILSON (1828-1904). He married Jemima Catherine STUMP

James A. JONES was born on October 26, 1854 in Virginia. He is
the son of Unknown and Paul W. JONES. He married in Allegany County on October
26, 1876 to Amanda E. CRUPPER. Amanda is the daughter of William CRUPPER and
Anna DAVIS of Virginia. She was born on May 25, 1858 in Virginia. James died on
April 13, 1935 and is buried at Trinity Lutheran Church Cemetery. Amanda died on
September 10, 1934 and is buried at Greenmount Cemetery in Cumberland.
James
and Amanda had the following children: Channing Lee, James Clifford, Edgar,
Maude and Lina. No other children known at this time.
Maude and Lina I have
no information on.
Edgar was born on October 9, 1909 in Cumberland. He died
on July 13, 1995 in Winterhaven, Florida.
James Clifford JONES was born on
June 23, 1891. He married a Florence A. DARKEY. Florence was born on December
21, 1899 in Town Creek, Maryland. She is the daughter of Hugh DARKEY and Annie
CRABTREE. They had only one child, Georgie May. James died on September 30, 1953
and is buried at Greenmount Cemetery. Florence died on January 25, 1966 and is
buried at Greenmount Cemetery in Cumberland.
Channing Lee JONES was born on
September 5, 1886 in Cumberland. He was married on June 4, 1918 in Allegany
County, Maryland to Margaret Virginia ROBISON. She is the daughter of Luther
ROBISON and Betty (maybe Elizabeth) DAVIS of West Virginia. She was born on May
11, 1898 in Romney. They had several children. Will list in another post.
Channing died on February 13, 1953 and is buried at Greenmount Cemetery.
Margaret died on March 24, 1955 and is buried at Greenmount Cemetery.

Trying to locate information about John & Thomas CUNNINGHAM
(CONNEGHAN). Came to the U.S. before 1871. Born in Ireland but immigrated from
Scotland. I'm not sure how long they were in Scotland but Thomas and his wife

The History Of Allegany Co, MD, Vol II, pgs.
732-733 tells of a Frostburg jeweler, Daniel J. BETZ, bn. Apr. 13, 1849 who md.
Emma JARRETT in Nov. 1875. It reveals that Daniel's parents were Jacob &
Philippa (Heintz) BETZ, a coal miner at Midlothian Coal Co., who had 7 living
children. Because I am interested in BETZ family members born in the 1770's in
MD, I'd like to find out something about, Jacob BETZ, the father's family! I
also found a Jacob BETTS in MD Revolutionary Records, pg. 10...probably the same
man. He served as a sgt. on the MD line in 1752. His widow and heirs applied for
Fed. Pension and bounty lands. Who can help me locate this information? Are
their any descendents of either of these men doing genealogy research?
The
1800 MD. Census, Roll 14, for Allegany Co. lists a Catherine BEETZ. Does anyone
know who she was and does she fit into somebody's family? I'm interested in
learning about any and all members of the BETZ family (various spellings)
pre-1800!

Am looking of descendants of John Wesley RYAN
married to Virginia Isora COVERICK. John W died 1-28-1925 followed by his wife
12-2-1957. Both are buried in Rose Hill Cemetary. Family rumors say they had 4
daughters; one a nurse. John W's father was John RYEN married to Sarah ENGLISH
so one daughter may have been a Sarah. John W is my grandfather by his first
marriage and was previously thought to have died in 1985 at age 26. Obits
(Cumberland Times-News) for both are on file at public libraries but have no way
to access them since I'm in Thailand

John DEAKINS settled in Allegany Co. probably by 1790 probably
from Fairfax Co. VA, died there 1814. Probably his wife was Lettice/Letitia. His
widow or daughter Letitia/Lettice married John MCDONALD 1814. MCDONALD was
administrator of John DEAKINS estate. Probable other children were Sally/Sarah
(m. William KAY 1797), Priscilla (m. James KAY ca 1799; they went to Greene Co.
PA then to Mason Co. VA), John DEAKINS Jr. (m. Margaret JAMES 1797; he d. ca
1823, widow and daughters went to Muskingum Co. OH). I cannot find any deeds
to/from John DEAKINS Sr. in Allegany or Washington Co. but he appears to have
been taxed on land. Seek information on all these people.

My great grandfather was James
CRABTREE. He was born in Dec 1864 In Maryland. He later moved to Pa and married
Mary Agnes YOUNKIN. His parents were also born in Maryland. I found this
information in the 1900 census for Westmoreland PA .

father was Thomas born abt 1765. He changed the name of Mt Clear, Mt Clair to
Irons Mt. I can not find any record of his purchase of the Mt. The first I can
find him in Allegany Co is the 1800 census. He sold the Mt to his son Thomas Jr
who was in Harrison Co, Ohio at that time. Thomas Jr later sold the Mt to his
younger brother Patrick. Patrick's mother was a daughter of Lewis DAVIDSON Sr,
from the information I have found. I can't find any marriage records. I would

Solomon HENDRICKSON appears in the 1810 census of Allegany Co., MD. I am seeking
the parents of Solomon HENDRICKSON [b: 1782, PA], Jesse HENDRICKSON [b: 1790/3,
MD], and Frances HENDRICKSON [b: 1800, PA] who were siblings. And possibly
another sibling was Ann HENDRICKSON [b: 1801/4]. These Hendricksons were of
Swedish descent.
For awhile at least, it seems that these Hendricksons moved
back and forth between nearby PA and Allegany Co. A Simeon HENDRICKSON and his
son, Dr. Levi HENDRICKSON, appear in an 1812 Somerset Co., PA deed witnessed by
Solomon HENDRICKSON and David HENDRICKSON. It is said that Simeon later moved to
Harrison Co., OH. Solomon HENDRICKSON also appears in the 1820 and 1830 censuses
of Columbiana Co., OH--in Fox Twp which eventually became part of Carroll Co.,
OH.
Frances HENDRICKSON married John J. FOSTER in Harrison Co., OH on 14
Feb 1822--near where Solomon lived. Solomon, Jesse, and Frances and their
families finally settled in McDonough Co., IL and are buried there. I appreciate

RAFFERTY'S of Frostburg. My grandmother was Leona RAFFERTY ( married Robert
CARTER of Mt. Savage), her sisters were: Elizabeth, Frances, Laverne, Alberta,
and 1/2 sister, Katherine. Her mother was Laura LYONS, who died when my
grandmother was 3 years old in Baltimore. Her husband, my gg-father was Michael
RAFFERTY was a miner and died when my grandmother was 7.
She was raised by
his sister, Maynie(?)RAFFERTY, who had two daughters, Bernadette and Regina. In
addition to Maynie, Michael's siblings were: John, Charlie,Barney, Jenny, and
Biddy. Laura LYON's parents were ? LYONS and Frances ARNOLD who later married a
SMITH. My paternal gg- parents were Patrick and Mary RAFFERTY of Frostburg who
came from Ireland. Any additional info. would be greatly appreciated.

Does anyone know when the LIGHTENSTEIN
Pharmacy of Cumberland, MD was in business. Searching for date of opening,
closing, and location. A local pharmist suggested early 1900's but was unsure.
Looking for the name of the old school house located at Bedford Road and Mill
Lane, Cumberland, MD. School was purchased and remodeled in the late 1920's or
early 1930. The home has been owned by the MORTZFELDT family since then.

My ggGrandmother's name was Ann
UPOLE and she married John HILEMAN. Ann was supposedly a full-blooded Cherokee.
This was on my Grandfather's side of the family. Now on my Grandmother's side I
have a ggggGrandmother (I hope that's right) whose name was Sally Little John
and she married William MUELLER (Allegany Ct). Sally Little John was

I am seeking a female ROHN relative -- she may have been married, but I do not
know to whom. She lived in Cumberland, Md. in the 19th century and was said to
have lived to the age of 102 years, a fact which I hope will make her "stick
