MARIA GOETZ CHANEY
Marie (Mary) Margareta Goetz Chaney “Nana” died March 21, 1997, in Sandy, Utah. She was born Sept. 21, 1915 to Gottfried and Rosina (Richter) Goetz in Krem. She grew up on a small farm north of Hazen. She married Raymond S. Chaney, later divorced. She resided at Constantia (the Galeppi) Ranch near Doyle, Calif., for 37 years. She was a mother, housekeeper and cook. She loved spring flowers. Her family, garden and home were her joy. She is survived by daughter, Cynthia and Earl Lund, Sandy, Utah; grandchildren, Michele Austin-Wade, Key West, Fla., and Mikael Austin, Sandy, Utah; three step-grandchildren, Audrey Misner, Heidi Barker and Karen Wilson; three great grandchildren, Jessica, Zachary, and Melissa; seven step-great grandchildren; brother, Leo Goetz, Sacramento, Calif.; sister Freida Gutknecht, Hazen; and numerous cousins and nieces, nephews and friends. Preceded in death by her parents, brothers, Bill, Edwin, Herb, Otto and Art and sisters, Ella Loeffelbein, Emma Mittelsteadt, Bertha, Hertha, and Winfred. ~Source: The Hazen Star, March 27, 1997
