THEO HUBER

Theo H. “Ted” Huber, 92, Hazen, ND, died Sunday, July 25, 2004 at Sakakawea Medical Center, Hazen, following a brief illness.

Mr. Huber was born Dec. 22, 1911, in Mannhaven, ND., the son of Jacob and Maria (Kilber) Huber. He was baptized on Jan. 8, 1912, and confirmed on May 28, 1926, at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Krem, ND. He grew up and attended school in the Mannhaven area. He married Anna L. Isaak on Nov. 4, 1934, at Trinity Lutheran Church, Mannhaven. They farmed north of Hazen and moved to Hazen in 1951. They continued to farm and operate a construction company until the early 1980’s, when he retired.  He was a member of St. Matthew Lutheran Church, Hazen, serving as the sexton for many years and in many other positions within the congregation. He was active in the Chamber of Commerce, served on the Hazen City Commission for several years, and was an officer and director of Mannhaven Realty Co., Sunrise Homes Inc., Hazen Development Corp and North Star Inc. He enjoyed maple nut ice cream and Juicy Fruit gum.

He is survived by two daughters, Loretta (Stan) Zarambo, Lino Lakes, Minn., and Maxine (Gary) Beckwith, Hazen; two sons, Harvey (Kathy) Jamestown, and Rodney (Michele), League City, Texas; two sisters-in-law, Selma Huber, Stanton, ND, and Amanda Huber, Greeley, Colo.; six children of Emma Guenthner Esch, whom they raised after her death, Florence Baszler, Great Falls, Mont., Evelyn Wiedrich, Alhambra, Calif., Marvin Guenthner, Minot, ND, Luther Guenthner, Silverton, Idaho, Max Guenthner, Underwood, ND, and Dorothy Bauer, Covina, Calif.; a special friend, Gertie Isaak; 11 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; three sisters, Mary Unterseher Metzger, Martha Grosz and Katie Baszler; four brothers, Bernhard, Jacob, Otto and Elthor; and two children of Emma Guenthner Esch, Paul Guenthner and Bernice Richter.

Services: 10 a.m. MDT Saturday, St. Matthew Lutheran Church, Hazen, with the Rev. David Suelzle officiating.

Visitation: 3 to 8 p.m. MDT Friday, Seibel Funeral Home, Hazen.

Burial: St. Matthew Lutheran Cemetery, Hazen. Memorials: Braille Fund of St. Matthew Lutheran Church, Hazen, of Hazen Senior Citizens.
