Ernest Isaak

GOLDEN VALLEY — Ernest Isaak, 92, Golden Valley, died April 26, 2010, at Sakakawea Medical Center, Hazen. Services will be held at 10 a.m. MDT Wednesday, April 28, at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Dodge, with the Rev. Richard Melchert and Intern Tom Olson officiating. Burial will be in St. Paul Lutheran cemetery.

Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. MDT today at Barbot-Seibel Funeral Home, Beulah.

Ernest was born Aug. 6, 1917, in Hazen to Theodore and Susanna (Huber) Isaak. He was raised and educated at a country school in Dunn County. Ernest began working on the farm with his dad for a few years.

On May 18, 1941, Ernest married Alma Breitling at St. Paul Missouri Synod Church north of Dodge. Together they farmed with Ernest’s parents for eight years and eventually they bought their own farm in 1949. They farmed there until 1983, when they moved to Golden Valley. They lived there until Ernest entered the nursing home in January 2008 and has lived there since.

Ernest loved to dance and sing, play cards and travel. He also liked to do wood working, making wishing wells, bird houses, a replica of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church and various other projects. Ernest was on the Oliver-Mercer Electric Board of Directors for many years as well as many years on the Council of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church. He was also involved with the German Singers.

He is survived by his wife Alma, Beulah; two sons, Jerry, Dodge, and Jim (Connie), Bismarck; two grandsons, Aaron, Bismarck, and Christopher, Fargo; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Ernest was preceded in death by his parents; one daughter-in-law, Sandy Isaak; one granddaughter, Shawna Isaak; and one brother, Ervin.
