Gordon Isaak Jr.

HAZEN — Gordon “Gordy” Isaak Jr., 52, Hazen, passed away Sept. 17, 2010, at St. Alexius Medical Center, Bismarck. Services will be held at 10 a.m. MDT today, Sept. 21, at Trinity Lutheran Church, rural Hazen, with the Rev. Dean Hartley officiating. Burial will be at Trinity Lutheran Cemetery.

Gordy was born May 10, 1958, in Bismarck, the son of Gordon and Clara (Vogel) Isaak. Gordy attended grade school in Center and later attended and graduated from Riverdale High School in 1976. He began working at Dakota Gasification Company in 1983 and was employed there until the time of his passing. He married Karen LaPlante on April 21, 2005, at Gordy’s parents’, Gordon and Marion’s, home.

Gordy loved fishing, hunting with his father, watching Monday Night Wrestling and was aspiring to be a photographer. He also enjoyed spending time with his grandson, Dominick, of whom he was very proud.

Gordy is survived by his wife, Karen, Hazen; two daughters, Brandy Isaak, Center, and Dawn (Matthew) Dietz, Fargo; one stepson, Jesse-Jay (Jean) Slager, Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, Canada; one stepdaughter, Bobbi-Jo Slager, Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan; one grandson, Dominick Isaak, Center; his parents, Gordon and Marion, Pick City; his mother, Clara Isaak, Rochester, Minn.; three brothers, Fred (Beth), Dubuque, Iowa, Bruce (Anne), Bismarck, and Todd (Michelle), Washburn; four sisters, Deb Isaak, St. Paul, Minn., Lisa (Chris) Richter, Woodbury, Minn., Melissa Isaak, Minneapolis, and Kari Isaak, Rochester; two stepbrothers, Guy Maynes, Calgary, Alberta, Canada, and Patrick (Cindy) Maynes, Chestermere, Alberta; one stepsister, Connie (Kenny) King, Edmonton, Alberta; and many aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.

Gordy was preceded in death by his brother, James; his grandparents, Fred and Emma Isaak and Simon and Elizabeth “Betty” Vogel; his parents-in-law, Thomas and Enid LaPlante; and his brother-in-law, Ray LaPlante. (Barbot-Seibel Funeral Home, Hazen)
