Norman A. Isaak

Norman A. Isaak, 81, Bismarck, died Dec. 1, 2008, in a Bismarck hospital. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Dec. 5, at First Lutheran Church, Bismarck, 800 N. 7th St., with the Rev. Allen Wagner officiating. Burial will be in the North Dakota Veterans Cemetery, Mandan.

Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the church.

Norman was born on June 20, 1927 in Dodge, to Henry and Katherina (Zeiszler) Isaak. He was raised and educated in Dodge. Norman enlisted in the United States army on April 1, 1946, in Fort Snelling, Minn., and was honorably discharged on Feb. 21, 1950. While serving in the army, he married Mathilde Seitz in Germany. Together they had six children. He was employed by Montgomery Wards for 38 years and retired in 1989. Norman was a lifetime member of the Bismarck VFW and the American Legion. He enjoyed carpentry, sewing, cooking, fishing and dancing.

He is survived by his loving wife of almost 60 years, Mathilde "Tillie", Bismarck, six children, Erlen (Jennifer) Isaak, Rosemary (Dave) Nelson, Terry, Ronnie (Sherry) Isaak, Leon Isaak and Larry (Arlys) Isaak, all of Bismarck; three grandchildren, Tammy, Christopher and Karoline; three great-great-grandchildren; one sister, Hazel Gabel, Brookings, S.D.; and one sister-in-law, Gladys Isaak, Richardton.

He was preceded in death by his parents, four brothers and one sister.
