OTHMER “IKE” ISAAK

Othmer “Ike” Isaak, died July 23, 1984, at the Harvey hospital. He was born Aug. 11, 1926, to David and Rosalia Isaak near Hazen, grew up near Hazen and began farming with his father. He served in the U.S. Army from 1944 to 1946.

On Nov. 9, 1947, he married Leona Kilber at Hazen and they made their home near Hazen where he worked as a laborer for area farmers. In 1955 they moved into Hazen, where Isaak was employed as a carpenter until they moved to Bowdon in 1967. Isaak managed and later purchased the Bowdon elevator, which he operated until 1976. In 1977 he began working for the Fressenden Co-op Elevator Assn.  Since 1981 he had worked for a number of farmers in the Bowdon area.

Isaak was a member of the Bowdon Lutheran Church, the Bowdon American Legion and the Harvey Eagles Club, as well as being squad leader for the Bowdon ambulance service.

He is survived by his wife, Leona; four sons, Donald of Broadus, Mont., Jerry of Jamestown, Timothy of West Fargo and Clyde of Jamestown; two daughters, Mrs. Gene (Myra) Suckut of Bowdon, and Mrs. Rodney (Carol) Rexine of Fargo; nine grandchildren; three brothers, Walter and Armond of Hazen and Elmer of The Dalles, Ore.; and seven sisters, Elsie Sailer of Stanton, Mrs. Eldor (Lorentina) Weisz of Hazen, Mrs. Eldor (Gertie) Ziemann, Stanton, Mrs. Bill (Hildegard) Wallender, Beulah, Selma Unterseher, Bismarck, Delores Isaak of San Haven, and Mrs. Ivan (Jeanette) Zeller of Osborne, Idaho.

Services were held Saturday, July 28, at Bowdon Lutheran Church. Interment was at the Wayside Cemetery, Bowdon.
