LAST RIGHTS HELD AT PEACE CHURCH FOR MRS. C. KNECHT

Last Rites for Mrs. Christina Knecht, 86, of rural Hazen, were held here Monday afternoon, May 10, at the Peace Lutheran Church with Rev. T. F. Doyen officiating. a family service preceded the church service. Burial was made in the Krem Cemetery north of Hazen. Pallbearers were grandsons of the deceased.

Mrs. Knecht died about 3.30 p.m. last Thursday afternoon, May 6, at the Hazen Memorial Hospital, which she entered as a patient the day of her death. She was born in South Russia on Oct. 22, 1867, and was married in Russia to Christoph Knecht in 1889. they came to the United States in 1901, living first in at Bowdle, S. Dakota. In 1910 they moved to Mercer County and homesteaded 11 miles north of Hazen.

Surviving are one son, Edward Knecht, Hazen , with whom she had been making her home, seven daughters, Mrs. August(Lydia) Ziemann, Hazen; Mrs. Rudolf (Rebecca) Sailer, Zap; Mrs. Clarence(Bertha) Stanley, Paulsbo, Wash; Mrs. Melita Bankson, Sioux City, Iowa; Mrs. Emilia Hebeler, Moville, Iowa; Mrs. Ida Lemp, Milwaukee, Wis; and Miss Martha Knecht, Dallas, Texas; one sister, Mrs. Magdalena Malke, Hazen; 40 grandchildren, and 36 great grandchildren. Her husband passed away in November of 1918. A son and a daughter also preceeded her in death.

The Aarthun Funeral Home was in charge of the funeral arrangements.
