EDWARD KNECHT FUNERAL HELD THIS AFTERNOON

Last rites for Edward Knecht 66, of Hazen, were held here this (Thursday) afternoon at the Peace Lutheran Church with the Rev. Walter Borchardt officiating.

Mr. Knecht died Saturday evening, May 31, at the local hospital, where he had been a patient for three weeks. Mr. Knecht has been in ill health for the past five months and had been hospitalized here and in Fargo during that time.
Mr. Knecht was born to Christoph Knecht and Christina Machau Knecht in South Russia in South Russia Aug. 13, 1891, and came to the United States with his parents in 1900. The family lived in South Dakota before coming to North Dakota in 1901 and homestead 13 miles north of Hazen. Since his marriage to Regina Sailer on September 27, 1919 at Hazen he has farmed 12 miles north of Hazen until April when he and his wife moved to Hazen.
A Lutheran, Mr. Knecht was a member of the Peace Lutheran church.

Besides his widow, he is survived by three sons, Adolph, Portland, Ore; Helmuth, Hazen; and Paul, Waverly, Iowa; and two daughters, Mrs. Dolan (Ruth) Anderson, Sioux City, Iowa; and Mrs. Edgar(Lilliam) Stiefel, Portland, Ore.

There are also seven sisters, Mrs. Lydia Zieman, Hazen; Mrs. Rudolf Sailer, Zap; Mrs, Bertha Stanley, Paulsbo, Wash; Mrs. Abel Bankson, Sioux city, Iowa; Mrs. Dewey Hebeler, Moville, Iowa; Mrs. Paul Lemp, Milwaukee, Wis; and Miss Martha Knecht, Dallas, Tex.; and seven grandchildren.

Two sons, one brother and one sister preceded him in death.

Honorary pallbearers at the services this afternoon were Edwin Wolf, Reinhold Miller, Christ Baisch, conrad Pfeifer, Armand Sailer, and Emil Malke. Reuben Zeiszler, Ernest Oster, Eugene Zieman, Walter Sailer, Leo Ellwein and Renold Sailer were the active pallbearers. Burial was in the Peace Lutheran Cemetery. In charge of the funeral details was the Aarthun Funeral Home of hazwn and Beulah.
