MARK MARKERT

Mark Markert, 38, Garrison, North Dakota, died Sunday, November 29, 1992, in a Jamestown, North Dakota, hospital.

Mark was born February 26, 1954, at Garrison, the son of Orin and Loretta (Sautter) Markert. He was raised and attended schools in Garrison, and graduated from Garrison High School. He attended the University of North Dakota, Grand Forks. He farmed near Garrison, worked construction, and was a painting contractor. Mark also worked at the Riverdale Power Plant, Riverdale, North Dakota, where he had the cleaning and maintenance contract. He married LaVonne Sailer in 1979 in Garrison. They lived in Garrison.

Mark enjoyed fishing and hunting and gardening. He wrote a book entitled, “A Touch of Dakota,” and presented the first copy to Governor Sinner during the Centennial Celebration. Mark served on the Garrison School Board, the Garrison Park Board, and The Sakakawea Arts Council Association.

He is survived by his two daughters and one son, Shannon, Marie and Michael, of Garrison; his mother and step-father, Loretta and Sam Albrecht, Bismarck; three brothers, Michael Markert, Seattle, Washington, David Markert, Hawaii, and Nikki Markert, Minot, North Dakota; one sister, Mary Lou Bartl, Minot, North Dakota; many aunts and uncles including, Fran Hawkins and Louise Markert of Seattle, and Eileen Besse, Britton, South Dakota; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his father, who died in 1977.
