Joseph M. McCloud

Joseph M. McCloud, 91, Garrison, died peacefully on April 8th, 2020 at the Garrison Hospital. Joe’s wishes were to donate his body to science, but because of the COVID-19 Virus, he was unable to give that last gift. Joe “Big Boy”, was born September 18, 1928 to William and Josephine (Lafarnaise) McCloud in Bottineau, ND. He served in the U.S. Army Reserves.

Joe married Joan Sailer on May 18, 1953. Joe worked construction so the family lived in several states before Joe was hired at the Army Corp of Engineers, working out of Riverdale. He remained with them until his retirement in the late 1980’s.

Joe loved nothing more than being with family. He was especially close to his grandkids and attended every event they participated in. He loved to take them fishing and taught them so well sometimes they would catch more fish than he would. He also enjoyed coaching the “Pick City Merchants” softball team that won the state championship in 1982.

Joe was an avid Minnesota Twins fan and made it to a couple of games at Target Field. After Joan passed away, Joe kept busy traveling to casino’s for concerts and visiting family. He had a great group of friends that he would travel with and they always had so much fun! Joe lived every day to its fullest!

Joe is survived by his daughters, Kathy (Colin) Fischer, Garrison, Susan (Dean) Folden, Garrison, daughter-in-law, Chris (Robert) McCloud Graz, Austria; grandchildren, Brandy, Tasha, Tyrel and Marci; great grandchildren, Cody, Trace, Xander, Jude, Gracie, Jazzy and Jace; and a sister, Grace Allard.

In lieu of flowers the family prefers memorials to the Special Olympics.
