ANNA M. RAHN
Sept. 11, 1910-May 4, 1999

Anna M. Rahn, 88, of Hazen died on Tuesday, May 4, 1999, at the Knife River Care Center in Beulah. Services were held Saturday, May 8, 1999, at the Peace Lutheran Church in Hazen with Pastor Walt Wolff and Pastor Duane Hanson officiating.  Burial was at the Old Peace Cemetery in Hazen. Serving as pallbearers were James Rahn, John Rahn, Judy Hyttinen, Donna Reichenberg, Robert Rahn, and Mary Schmidt.

Anna was born the daughter of Ferdinand and Maria (Ziemann) Rahn on Sept. 11, 1910, in Expansion.  She finished grammar school north of Hazen and later worked at various homes for families with newborn children. Anna then moved to New York and lived with her sister, Amanda. While in New York, she enrolled in beauty school and in 1941 she graduated with her degree. Following her time spent in New York, Anna then moved to Sacramento, Calif. and worked in a Defense Plant until the end of World War II. Anna returned home to Hazen and worked at the local hospital as a nurse’s aide until her retirement. In January of 1992, she moved to the Pioneer Park Retirement Home and lived there until July of 1994, when she moved to the Knife River Care Center in Beulah and resided until the time of her death.

Anna was a member of the Peace Lutheran Church and a life member of the American Legion Auxiliary. Her favorite pastime was crocheting and making many an afghan. She is survived by two sisters, Adina Haining, of Canoga Park, Calif., and Ida Shiney, of Newbury Park, Calif.; two sisters-in-law Hilda Rahn of the Knife River Care Center in Beulah and Edna Rahn of Hazen. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews. Anna was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers and three sisters.
