Agnes Rose Raszler

Agnes Rose Raszler, 85, formerly of Hazen, passed away August 5, 2017 at Missouri Slope Lutheran Care Center, Bismarck. Services will be held at 10:30 AM CDT, Thursday, August 10, 2017, at Zion Lutheran Church, Beulah, with the Pastor Mary Lou Aune officiating. Burial will follow at the Beulah City Cemetery. Visitation will be held Wednesday from 4:00 to 7:00 PM at Zion Lutheran Church, Beulah, and will continue one hour prior to the service at the church.

Agnes was born on January 1, 1932 at her parents’ farm north of Beulah, to Edward and Eva (Miller) Schopp. She married Otto Raszler on October 16, 1951, at Zion Lutheran Church in Beulah. They made their home on the Raszler farm 10 miles southwest of Hazen, where they raised their two daughters.

Agnes and Otto worked their land side by side for over 50 years, raising small grains and cattle. In addition to farm work, she filled her days with cooking, baking, sewing, and gardening. Her green thumb was legendary, and her oversized vegetables were always a source of pride.  Busy as Agnes was, the coffee pot was always on, home-baked goodies were at hand, and good conversation was sure to follow.

Agnes was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Beulah her entire life. Over the years she served regularly on the altar guild, as an usher, and as part of her kitchen work group. Her church family was a very important part of her life, and she loved greeting fellow parishioners before and after each service, visiting cheerfully and sharing the infectious laughter that was her true hallmark. Agnes possessed a strong, simple faith in her God, and her conversations were always sprinkled with references to “the good Lord,” who, rain or shine, would always make things come out in the end.

Agnes lived each day with joy and good humor. She showed kindness and generosity to all she knew, and greeted both friends and strangers with an uninhibited hug that radiated sincerity and love. God made only one Agnes, and she will be missed by all who knew her.

Agnes is survived by her husband, Otto, Bismarck; two daughters, Jeannette (Edwin) Kittler, Bismarck, and Joyce (Mark) Sayler, Mandan; three grandchildren, Anthony Sayler, Mandan, Elizabeth (Tim) Jacobs, Bismarck, and Kimberly (David) Ukestad, Bismarck; and three great-grandsons, Isaac and Andrew Ukestad, and Jackson Jacobs.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Edward and Eva Schopp; two brothers, Richard and Ronald Schopp; and one sister Bernice Schopp.

Arrangements conducted by Barbot Funeral Home, Beulah and Hazen.
