REINHOLD REINSCHMIDT

Another Christian pilgrim has gone to his rest in the person of Reinhold Reinschmidt. He died on Sunday afternoon at 3:00 p.m. November 20, 1938, at his house of _____ of the heart muscles. His mortal remains will be laid to rest Friday, November 25, with Rev. G. Gerike, officiating.

Reinhold Reinschmidt was born near Delmont, South Dakota, on October 31, 1891. He was the son of Matt Reinschmidt and Christina, nee Wold. He was one of a family of nine children. He lived with his parents near Delmont until he was seven years of age, when the family moved to Yale, South Dakota. His early youth was spent in Oklahoma. He was confirmed by Pastor W.H. Barrels, in Ft. Smith, Arkansas, on Dec. 19th, 1915, the fourth Sunday in Advent. His memory verse is found in Ps. 86:11.  He spent several years in Oklahoma whereupon he sold his farm and returned home. He was at home about one year.

In January 1919, he came to North Dakota, settling north of Hazen in Mercer County. Here he spent the remainder of his life. On April 27th, 1919, he was joined in Holy wedlock with Emelia, nee Richter; the Rev. M.A. Berner speaking the marriage ceremony. This union was blessed with nine children, one preceding its father in death. 

The children are: Anton, Ruth, Claire, Harriet, Violet, Rose, Lyman, Roy, and Norma, who died at the age of 1 year and 1 month in 1926.

When he was 18, he was accidentally shot in the ankle. Immediate results of the shot sent him to Rochester, Minn., for medical attention: but he walked with a limp the rest of his life. He also suffered from rheumatism after he came to North Dakota. This was particularly the case in the spring of the year.

In April 1935, he suffered his first attack of epilepsy, the result according to medical opinion, of a former stroke or bursted blood vessel. Four months later he suffered a second attack. Two months later his third and after this the attacks came every month. The last month of his life, these became still more frequent.
