LUCILLE ROSE

Lucille Rose, 75, Picayune, Miss., passed away peacefully from her home and went to live with the Lord on April 5, 2006. A celebration of life is planned for 6 p.m. today, April 9, at Honaker Funeral Home, Slidell, La. Burial will be at 9 a.m. Monday in Forest Lawn Cemetery, Slidell.

Lucille was born May 3, 1930, on the farm in Hazen to Herbert and Ella (Elwein) Ziemann. She graduated from Mandan High School in 1948 and then attended St. Olaf College in Minnesota. After college, she moved to Chicago and worked for the Chicago Tribune and met her husband to be, Troy Easter Rose. They were wed on June 26, 1955, in Mandan. She lived briefly in Madison, Wis., and Detroit, before moving to Denver when Troy was hired by Martin Marietta. Lucille, her husband and three children lived in Denver until 1973 when Troy was transferred to Louisiana.

After her husband passed away in 1976, she moved to Picayune and lived there until 1984, when she returned to Bismarck to be near her mother. A love for literature and writing surely had a part in acquiring a job at the Morton County Library, where she also drove the book mobile. After briefly living in Virginia near her children, she then moved back to Picayune in 1991.

Lucille was a prayer warrior, and through her faithful walk with her Lord Jesus, she touched the lives of many. She taught Bible studies and ministered in every place she lived. She was a part of several churches first beginnings, including New Song Four Square in Bismarck; Lucille being one of the first seven attendees.  As of late, she attended Bread of Life Fellowship and did the Lord’s work for as long as he allowed. Even as her health began to fail and speech at times was difficult, the word of the Lord, which she had hid in her heart, would pour forth, blessing those around her with a multitude of scriptures. Her God-given direction and sense of humor on life will be missed by many.

Survivors include her son, Lt. Troy Elliott Rose and his wife, Janel, of Arlington, Wash.; her daughter, Brenda Marie Rose, Picayune; three grandsons, Kory Lee Rose, USS Tucson, Pearl Harbor, Hawaii, Tyler Elliott Rose, Naval Air Station, Pensacola, Fla., and Nickolas Troy Rose, Arlington; and one sister, Arlien Somers, Port Charlotte, Fla.

Her husband; her parents; and one daughter Tammie Ellette Rose, preceded her in death.
