ADAM SAILER, 75, HAZEN, PASSES AWAY SATURDAY 

Funeral services for Adam Sailer, 75, of rural Hazen who passed away at the Hazen Memorial Hospital  here Saturday morning, July 25, 1959, were held at the Peace Lutheran Church here Tuesday afternoon, July 28, 1959. The Rev. Walter Borchardt was in charge of the service. Mr. Sailer, who has been in poor health for the past 11 years, was hospitalized for two and a half weeks before his death.

The son of the late Jacob and Fredericka Benz Sailer, Mr. Sailer was born August 10, 1883, in South Russia. In 1893, his family immigrated to the United States, living first at Freeman, South Dakota and coming to Mercer County in 1894.  He was married to Pauline Sailer on October 23, 1905, at Fargo, North Dakota.  He and his wife began farming 16 miles north of Hazen, North Dakota, after their marriage and had lived there since. He was a member of the Peace Lutheran Church of Hazen.

He leaves his wife; nine sons, Richard and Helmuth of rural Hazen, North Dakota; Tobias of Pick City, North Dakota; Albert of Stanton, North Dakota; Eldor and William of Wheatland, Wyoming; Edwin and Arthur of Casper, Wyoming; and Bernardt of Pierre, South Dakota; and two daughters, Mrs. Harold (Helen) Ziemann of Casper, Wyoming and Mrs. Norman (Bertha) Adams of Gary, Indiana. There are also 34 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Mr. Sailer was preceded in death by two daughters, one brother and one sister.

Grandsons of the deceased acted as pallbearers at the funeral service. Burial was in the Peace Lutheran Cemetery. The funeral details were made by the Aarthun Funeral Home of Hazen and Beulah.
