JACOB SAILER of HAZEN, VETERAN WAR I, DIES HERE

Jacob Sailer, 49, Hazen, N. D., farmer, died Friday in a local hospital after a six weeks’ illness. A veteran of World War I, Mr. Sailer served overseas from Aug. 16, 1918, to July 7, 1919, taking part in the Meuse-Argonne campaign and serving in Germany with the army of occupation after the Armistice. He was inducted into the Army Sept. 18, 1917, and discharged at Camp Dodge, Iowa, July 14, 1919.

Mr. Sailer was born in Russia Oct. 18, 1893 and came to the United States with his parents in 1906, settling first at Mannhaven in Mercer County. Later the family moved to Krem, and for the last several years Mr. Sailer has made his home at Hazen. He was married at Krem, Jan. 6, 1922, to Lydia Malke.

Besides his wife he leaves three brothers: Gottlieb and George of Hazen; and Rudolph of Zap; and the following sisters: Mrs. John Ellwein, Mrs. Michael Zeiszler, Mrs. Adam Zeiszler, Mrs. Ed Knecht, Mrs. Julius Froeschle, Mrs. Julius Barthel, and Mrs. Otto Oster, all of Hazen.

Funeral arrangements are in charge of the Calnan Funeral Home and the body was taken to Hazen Saturday morning. Funeral services will be in charge of the American Legion post and will be conducted by Rev. S. Yochim of the Hazen Lutheran Church at 2 p.m. Sunday. Burial will be in the Hazen cemetery.
