Mrs. Merlin A. Sailer 1936-2020

Merlin A. (Anderson) Sailer, 84, of Stanton, ND, peacefully passed away, with her family by her side, on Tuesday, August 18, 2020 at the Elm Crest Manor in New Salem, ND.  A family celebration of Merlin’s life will be held at a later date.  In lieu of flowers the family requests memorials to the Elm Crest Manor in New Salem, ND, Our Saviors Lutheran Church in Stanton, ND or to the charity of your choice.

Merlin was born on July 28, 1936 in Beulah, ND to the late Arnold & Edna (Enyart) Anderson. Merlin attended school in Beulah, ND and received her GED later in life.  She met her future husband, Glen Sailer, in 1954 and were married on November 28, 1955.  This marriage was blessed with five wonderful children that blossomed into a huge loving family of four in-laws, ten grandchildren, and nine great grandchildren.

Merlin was very hard working and passionate about cooking, baking, candy making, gardening, canning, crafting for the Stanton Holiday Fair and Our Savior’s Lutheran Church Bazaar.  She was an accomplished seamstress spending countless hours sewing everything from Barbie doll clothes to wedding dresses and altering clothing for those in need.  She had a true love of pets.  Her biggest passion was taking her grandchildren school clothes shopping at Herbergers.  As her health and mobility began to fail her next shopping love was QVC.

Merlin is survived by Glen Sailer, her husband of 65 years, her children, Gwendy (Kevin) Dissell of Washburn, ND, Monty (Loree) Sailer of Garrison, ND, Warren Sailer of Stanton, ND, Julie (Brian) Hager of Rapid City, SD and Morie (Kari) Sailer of Chandler, Texas, ten grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.  She is also survived by one brother, Andy (Janice) Anderson, one sister, Sandra Wood, one brother-in-law, John Day and numerous nieces, nephews & cousins.

She was predeceased by her parents, Arnold & Edna Anderson, her sisters LaDonna Day, Lois Yorio, and Janice Anderson and her brothers Carl, Delton, Raymond & Jr. Arnold Anderson.

The family would like to thank the entire staff at Elm Crest Manor for the compassion and loving care provided to Merlin.  You all have truly been a blessing.

Arrangements conducted by Barbot Funeral Home, Hazen and Beulah.
