MRS. JACOB SAILER

MRS. JACOB SAILER PASSES ON

Mrs. Jacob Sailer, an old pioneer resident of Mercer County 17 miles north of Hazen, passed away early Tuesday morning, May 17, 1938.  She passed away peacefully at the ripe old age of 82 years, 4 months and 15 days.

Mrs. Sailer, nee Benz, was born on the 12th of January 1856, at Halbbrum, Russia. She was confirmed in a Lutheran Parish on the 21st of March 1871. In the year 1881 she married Jacob Sailer. In 1893 they sought their new home in America. The first winter they lived in South Dakota. In 1894 they moved to Mercer County where they have lived since on a farm 17 miles north of Hazen.

She leaves to mourn her deeply grieved husband; two sons, Andrew and Adam; and one daughter, Mrs. Joe (Elizabeth) Boeckel in the state of Oregon; 19 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren.

Since 1923, due to a stroke, she had been more or less ailing. During the past winter, her health was impaired that she was unable to hear, and also her eyesight was poor.

Since 1894 she was a faithful member of the Ev. Lutheran Christ Parish.

Funeral services will be held Friday afternoon, May 20, at one o’clock p.m., at the home, two o’clock at the St. Petri Church. Rev. Alfred A. Krause will preach the funeral sermon.
