MRS. JOHN SCHIMKE
DIES EARLY SUNDAY

Death came to Mrs. John Schimke early Sunday morning, Mar. 29. Nearly 58 years old, Mrs. Schimke, since 1928, has been a sufferer from cancer. Her condition had become progressively worse until it culminated in death after 14 years of suffering.

Katherina Schimke, nee Ziemann, was born at Friedensfeldt, Bessarabia, South Russia, Apr. 16, 1884. She was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Christian Ziemann, both of whom preceded her in death.

During her childhood she came with her parents to the United States, where on Feb. 16, 1905, she was married to John Schimke of Mannhaven. Soon after their marriage, they established their home north of Stanton and continued to live there to the time of Mrs. Schimke’s death. Two children, Edwin and Emma, were born to this union.

Surviving Mrs. Schimke are her husband, son Edwin, and daughter, Emma, now Mrs. Simon Hildebrand; four brothers, John Ziemann, Golden Valley; August and Emmanuel Ziemann, both of Krem; and Fred Ziemann, Lodi, Calif.; two sisters, Sophia Tabert, Beulah; and Alvina Lopez, Stockton, Calif.

Funeral services will be conducted at Zion Lutheran Church, rural Stanton, on Friday afternoon, April 3, at 3 o’clock. Rev. S. Wegenast will officiate at the services. Pall bearers chosen are Jacob Stiefel, Leonard Kilber, David Heine, Martin Adolph, Otto Grosz and Samuel Grosz.
