Schwab, Lt. Michael P. 1932-1956

 

RICHARDTON OFFICER SUCCUMBS IN DENVER

RICHARDTON – Lt. Michael P. Schwab, 24, son of Mr. and Mrs. John Schwab, Richardton, died in Fitzsimmons General Hospital, Denver, Colo., on April 6, after an illness of nine months.

Born near Stanton on March 7, 1932, he attended the Assumption Abbey High School at Richardton, Creighton University of Omaha, Neb., and the University of North Dakota. He received the rank of second lieutenant as a member of the Reserve Officer Training Corps.

He leaves his wife, the former Marjorie Zimmerman, Richardton; one daughter; his parents; six brothers, Jake and John Jr., Stanton, Ralph, Custer, S.D., Francis, Richardton, Antone, Kellogg, Idaho, Henry, Mandan; and eight sisters, Mrs. Joseph (Anne) Hoffman, Mandan, Mrs. Adolph (Madge) Swaboda, Suring, Wis., Mrs. Joseph (Barbara) Kampish, Billings, Mont., Mrs. Hal (Flenore) Peterson, Seattle, Wash., Mrs. Frank (Eva) Hagel, The Dalles, Ore., Mrs. Frank (Helen) Scharosch, Hazen, Sister Juhan OSB Crosby, and Sister Barbara Ann OSB, Yankton, S.D.

A rosary was recited at the Howard Mortuary, Denver, on the evening before the funeral which was held on April 10 with the Rev. Schumacker singing a requiem high mass.

Burial was made in the Fort Logan National Cemetery at Denver with graveside services under the auspices of Army officials. Pallbearers were six lieutenants of his company.
