JEAN MARIE STIEFEL

Jean Marie Stiefel, 49 years of age, Stanton, North Dakota, died Saturday morning October 9, 1982, at the Hazen Memorial Hospital in Hazen, North Dakota.

She was born on March 5, 1933, at Krem, North Dakota, to Joseph and Alma (Krechlau) Richter. She attended grade school at Krem, north of Hazen and graduated from Stanton High School. On July 19, 1954, she married Donald Stiefel in Stanton and the couple lived in Stanton. She worked in various offices of the Mercer County Courthouse and for the last 13 years at the Union State Bank of Hazen. Jean was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary, the Stanton Civic Auxiliary and the American Lutheran Church Women of Our Savior’s Lutheran and a member of Our Savior’s Lutheran Church of Stanton.

She was preceded in death by her father.

She is survived by her husband, Donald of Stanton; one son, Monte Stiefel of Stanton; one daughter, Cynthia Stiefel of Velva, North Dakota; her mother Alma Richter of Stanton; two brothers, Melvin Richter of Hazen and Orville Richter of Stanton; one sister, Ruth Atkinson of Seattle, Washington; and three grandchildren.

Funeral services were held Wednesday October 13, 1982, at 10:30 a.m. MDT at our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Stanton, with the Rev. Mark Bogen officiating. Interment was in the church cemetery.

Pallbearers were the following nephews: Marvin Richter, Ronald Richter, Jeff Stiefel, Keith Stiefel, Steven Richter and Kevin Stiefel.

Honorary pallbearers will be the following: Martin Staigle, Arvin Gustafson, Marvin Leer, Martin Reuerath, Delton Richter, and Shirley Neuberger. –Erdman Funeral Home of Hazen.
