Four Hazen persons and three other North Dakotans died in automobile accidents over the weekend. Five other persons were injured, one critically.

The four Hazen persons, all members of the same family group, were killed in a crash in Montana early Sunday.  The victims are: Mr. and Mrs. Edwin Unterseher, Hazen; Theophil (Ted) Unterseher and his 3-year-old son, Rickey, of Billings, Mont., formerly of Hazen.

The accident in which the four Untersehers were killed occurred nine miles north of Roundup, Mont., on U.S. Highway 87. It was a head-on two-car collision.

Also killed in the accident was James Brown, whose home town was listed as Dillon, Mont.

The Edwin Untersehers had been visiting with the Ted Untersehers at Billings. Edwin and Ted were cousins. The Ted Untersehers had moved to Montana from Hazen about two years ago.

In critical condition at a hospital in Billings is Mrs. Ted Unterseher. The Edwin Untersehers 3-year-old daughter was also hospitalized there but her condition was reported as fair.

The bodies are being returned to the Aarthun Funeral Home at Hazen for funeral arrangements.

FUNERAL SERVICES FOR 4 UNTERSEHERS AT HAZEN FRIDAY

HAZEN—Funeral services are scheduled for 2 p.m. Friday from the Hazen High School auditorium for four Hazen persons who died in an automobile accident near Roundup, Mont., late Saturday night. The rev. T.F. Doyen, of the Peace Lutheran Church and G. H. Flechtner, of St. Matthews Lutheran Church will officiate.

Burial of Mr. and Mrs. Edwin Unterseher will be made in the Peace Lutheran Cemetery. Burial of Ted Unterseher and his son, Rickey Ray, will be made in St. Matthews Lutheran Cemetery.

Funeral homes assisting the Aarthun Funeral Home at Hazen will be the Boelter Funeral Home of Bismarck, Heinle Funeral Home of Garrison, and Dittus Funeral Home of Glen Ullin.

Edwin F. Unterseher, 32, was born at Hazen on March 28, 1923, the son of Gottlieb and Pauline Maas, who live at Hazen. He attended Hazen schools and was married to Lorraine Tesky on June 28, 1949, at Hazen, who was killed in the same accident. Besides a daughter, Candace Kay, 2, who is hospitalized at Billings, Mont., with injuries, he leaves one sister, Mrs. Gerhardt Tesky, Hazen.

Since July, Mr. Unterseher was a partner in the Friendly Bar at Hazen. Previous to that time he farmed and was employed at various occupations in Hazen.

Pallbearers will be Alvin Borner, Harold Heine, Elder Sailer, Sam Wolf, Edwin Neuberger and Clarence Rathjen.

Mrs. Lorraine Unterseher, 26, was born at Beulah, Jan. 26, 1929, the daughter of Gottlieb and Lydia Tesky. She attended Hazen schools.

Besides her mother and daughter, she leaves four brothers, Gerhardt, Eldor, Theodore and Ray of Hazen; and two sisters, Mrs. Fred (Magdelina) Hoffmann, Hazen, and Miss Anna Tesky, Sunny Vale, Calif.  One brother preceded her in death. She moved to Hazen in 1941.

Pallbearers for Mrs. Unterseher will be Herbert and Richard Tesky, Albert Pischel, Ted Kirchmeier, Arthur Heth, and Walter Mittelsteadt.

Ted Unterseher, 27, Billings, Mont., formerly of Hazen, was born at Otter Creek on May 10, 1928, the son of John and Regina Unterseher. He attended Otter Creek schools and was in the service from 1948 to 1950, where he served with the Army engineers in Korea. He was married to Jeannette Fischer in June 1953. She was injured in the same accident and is in serious condition in a Billings, Mont., hospital.

Besides his father, wife and a son, Timothy Philip, 2-months-old, he leaves four brothers, Herbert, New Salem; Erwin, Billings; Richard, Hannover; and Reinhold, Cody, Wyo.; and three sisters, Mrs. Reinhold (Alma) Reinhardt, Billings, Mont.; Mrs. Egon (Elsie) Bauer, Billings, Mont.; and Miss Ida Unterseher, Seattle, Wash.

After he was discharged from the service, Mr. Unterseher was employed as a steam shovel operator at the Beulah Mine. In Spring of 1954, he moved to Billings, Mont., as an electrician. He lived in Hazen for nine years.

Pallbearers will be Jacob Unterseher, Elmer Richter, Art Heine, Norman Fischer, Arthur Schlender and Elmer Lauf. Military services will be under the auspices of the Hazen American Legion.

Rickey Ray, 21-month-old son of the Ted Untersehers, was born Jan. 6, 1954. He leaves, besides his mother, brother and grandfather, John, of Hazen, his maternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Philip Fischer, Hazen.

Pallbearers will be Keith Unterseher, Duane Unterseher, Ronnie Reinhardt, and Clarence Oberlander.
