ELDOR WEISZ

Eldor Weisz, 88, of Hazen, died Sunday, December 19, 2004, at a Bismarck hospital, surrounded by his family. Services were held on Thursday, December 23, 2004, at St. Matthews Lutheran Church, Hazen, with Rev. David Suetzle officiating. Burial followed in the church cemetery.

Eldor was born June 17, 1916, near Krem, north of Hazen, a son of Nathaniel and Margarita (Goetz) Weisz. He was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith. On September 6, 1936, he married Lorentina Isaak at Trinity Lutheran Church, rural Hazen. Eldor farmed the home place all of his life, milking cows and raising cattle and hogs. In 1998 he retired and moved to Hazen, but he still helped farm until his eye sight began giving him problems. He was a member of St. Matthews Lutheran Church, Hazen, where he had served on the Board of Elders in his younger days. He was a very hard worker who loved to farm and work the fields.

He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Lorentina; his daughter, Jerine Hoffart, of Hazen; his son, Larry & Karen Weisz of Hazen; 8 grandchildren, Terry and Heather Hoffart of Tempe, Ariz., Rick and Kelly Hoffart of Fargo, Jacie and Gregg Wollner of Hudson, Wisc., Sherry and Steve Furcht, of Bismarck, Robert and Kelly Weisz of Hazen, Alan Weisz and Katie Marthels of Hazen, and Jamie Weisz of Bismarck, 15 great grandchildren, 2 step great-grandchildren; his brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Eldor’s great grandchildren adored him and he was their “Gross Papa.”

Eldor was preceded in death by his parents; his son-in-law Harold Hoffart; 5 sisters, Anna Stuhlmiller, Adina Neuman, Olga Graumann, Eva Unterseher and Hattie Miller; and two brothers, Daniel Weisz and Herbert Weisz.
