HAZEN—Lorentina W. Weisz, 92, Hazen, passed away on Jan. 10, 2011, at Knife River Care Center, Beulah. Services will be held at 10 a.m. CST Friday, Jan. 14, at St. Matthews Lutheran Church, Hazen, with the Rev. Toby Heller officiating. Burial will be at St. Matthews Lutheran Cemetery, Hazen.

Visitation will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. CST Thursday at Barbot-Seibel Funeral Home, Hazen.

Lorentina was born June 9, 1918, to David and Rosalia (Guenthner) Isaak at Mannhaven. She was raised on a farm and attended country school. She was raised, schooled and baptized in German. She could be found working hard alongside her father in the fields with horses.

On Sept. 6, 1936, she married Eldor Weisz at Trinity Lutheran Church, north of Hazen. Together, they farmed on the farm where Eldor was born, near Krem. She was known for working alongside her husband in the fields, tending to her chickens, canning, cooking, milking and various other farm chores. Lorentina loved to be outside tending to her garden. They retired from farming and moved to Hazen on Nov. 30, 1998. Eldor passed away on Dec. 19, 2004.

Lorentina is survived by her daughter, Jerine (Les) Miller, Hazen; son, Larry (Karen) Weisz, Hazen; eight grandchildren, Terry (Heather) Hoffart, Rapid City, S.D., Rick (Kelly) Hoffart, Minot, Mitch (Karen) Hoffart, Fargo, Jacie (Greg) Wollner, Hudson, Wis., Sherry (Steve) Furcht, Bismarck, Robert (Kelly) Weisz, Hazen, Alan (Katie) Weisz, Hazen, and Jamie Weisz and Ladonna Keller, Hazen; one step-granddaughter, Marcia Miller, Hazen; 19 great grandchildren; five step great grandchildren; one great great grandson; sisters, Hildegard Wallender, Hazen, and Jeanette Zeller, Spokane, Wash.; sisters-in-law, Leona Isaak, Bowden, and Ann Isaak, The Dells, Ore.; and brothers, Armond (Violet) Isaak, Hazen, and Walter Isaak, Underwood.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Eldor; sisters, Gertrude Ziemann, Deloris Isaak, Selma Unterseher and Elsie Sailer; brothers, Othmer and Elmer Isaak; and son-in-law, Harold Hoffart.
