Dale Ziemann, 67, Bismarck, passed away February 29, 2008, while enjoying a fishing outing. Dale was born October 6, 1940, at the family residence near Stanton to Eldor and Gertrude (Isaak) Ziemann. He was raised and educated in Stanton, graduating from Stanton High School. After graduating from High School he was employed by Schulz and Lindsey doing road construction. Dale entered the Armed Forces in 1964, where he served in a clerical position obtaining the ranking of E5 by the time of his discharge in 1966. At that time he was hired to haul gasoline for Mobil Service in Hazen. On July 22, 1967, he married Bonnita “Bonnie” Jochim. In 1972 Dale’s Interstate Inc. was formed and Dale and Bonnie purchased a gas station in Dickinson where they continued to own and operate Dale’s Interstate Mobil/Conoco until 1996. Dale embodied the belief and slogan, “Old-fashioned service with a smile.” After selling the gas station he worked as a salesman at Parkway Ford from 1996-2000. From the years 1977-2005 they were partners of ZORA Incorporated/Missouri Valley Petroleum. In 2000 Dale and Bonnie moved to Bismarck where Dale worked at Country West Conoco until he retired in 2006. Most recently he operated DZ for Yard’s Lawn Service. Dale was a proud grandfather and could be found at sporting events and music recitals supporting his grandchildren. He had a deep faith and was active in the Bismarck/Mandan Gospel Chorus and also sang in the Bethel Lutheran Church choir. While living in Dickinson, he was a church elder and leader of Redeemer Lutheran Church. Dale could be found most days enjoying a morning coffee with friends. He loved to tell a story and his sense of humor was infectious. Dale enjoyed many outdoor activities including, gardening, hunting, fishing and camping, but most of all, he loved making jerky! He will be deeply missed by those who survive him, including his wife of 40 years, Bonnie, of Bismarck, ND; his daughters and son-in-law, Lori and Russell Riehl of Menoken, ND, and Mary Ziemann of Bismarck, ND; his grandchildren, Riley and Hannah Riehl; his brothers and sisters-in-law, Jack Ziemann of Bowman, ND; Richard and Lin Ziemann of Keller, TX; Frank and Sherry Ziemann of Dickinson, ND; and Wilbert and Janell Ziemann of Washburn, ND; and many in-laws, nieces and nephews.
