Lorina was born the daughter of Gust and Martha (Rathjen) Oster on Oct. 7, 1921, in the Krem area.  She was baptized and confirmed in the St. Paul’s Lutheran Church. Lorina grew up and attended school in the rural Hazen area.  Following her schooling, Lorina stayed in the area where she helped families care for their children and the daily household chores. On Dec. 25, 1943, Lorina was united in marriage to Walter Ziemann at the St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, north of Hazen. Together they made their home on the farm 14 miles north of Hazen; that Walter’s great-grandfather homesteaded. She resided on the farm until the time of her death.

Lorina was a member of the St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, St. Paul’s Women’s Group, ALCW, Hazen Senior Citizens and also a member of the Pick City German Club. She enjoyed entertaining, dancing with the senior citizens, cooking and canning. Lorina also loved the farm life and was very active in the day to day work. She enjoyed caring for her dogs, cats and also her chickens. Every year she would look forward to the C.C. Convention, where her and Walter could visit old friends and catch up on the past. Most of all, Lorina’s family was very important to her, she remembered all of her relatives birthdays and their age. She was loved and will be missed by all.
