George Allen was born in Eren, Illinois, Stephenson County, on March 22, 1855 to Hiram Allen and Lois Beardon. He was a farmer in Illinois when he married Rosa Beck on January 3, 1882 at Freeport, Illinois. He was the eighth child born to Hiram and Lois.
Rosa Beck was born September 17, 1860 at Wadams, Illinois, Stephenson County, to John and Marg Lasan Beck.
In 1883, the newlyweds moved to Neligh, Nebraska. Their farm was three miles north and three miles east of town. They were parents to one child, Pearl Lucinda, born on February 21, 1885 at Neligh. George and Rosa separated after about 20 years. George stayed on the farm and Rosa moved to Neligh. He died on the farm on May 24, 1913. Pearl Lucinda married Henry A Peterson at Neligh on February 8, 1903. They made their home with Rosa for many years. Henry became Antelope County Sheriff and the family moved into the jail living quarters. Rosa died there on August 10, 1941. George's brothers and sisters were: Maria E. Nelson, Hiram, Lydia, Olive, William, Harriet, Fanny, Seth, Henrietta and James.
