Marion A. (1866-1918) and Mae E. (1865-1929) Baird moved from Carroll County, Iowa to their farm two and one half miles northwest of Brunswick in the 1890's. There were three children: Vera E. Baird (1888-1907); Verner A. Baird (1891-1918) killed in World War I at Romayne, France; and Maxwell A. Baird (1896-1980) stock man and farmer.

Maxwell attended District 61 School in Antelope County. He and Fern Weaver were married May 3, 1924 at Winner, South Dakota. They made their home on the Baird farm until retirement in 1950 to Plainview, Nebraska where they lived for 27 years before moving to Gering, Nebraska in 1977. Their children were: M. Arlo Baird (1925) cattleman and farmer, graduated Brunswick High, attended Wayne State and the University of Nebraska, World War II, married Helen L. Green; Jo Anne Baird (1926) registered nurse, Brunswick High School, Wayne State and University of Nebraska, who married William F. Perkins,; and Paul A. Baird (1933) Purchasing agent, University of Nebraska, who married Berneta R. Hulshizer.
