Frank Bassett came to Nebraska from Grand Rapids, Michigan in a covered wagon when he was six years old. He was reared by his Grandpa Waterby and attended the old Honey Set School. He liked working with race horses and did whatever jobs were available for a young to make a living at the time.

He married Ida Yeoman on December 18, 1899 in Neligh. Frank started a dray in Tilden. Later he and his son, Derald had a trucking business. They hauled coal, ice, and just about anything needed. Frank died in 1958 at the age of 85. Ida died November 24, 1971.
