Charles Beer, son of William Beer and Mary Ball, was born December 31, 1872. He married Esther Rosamond Simmons on November 5, 1893 in Neligh, Nebraska. They were the parents of three children. Vera, Murl and Raymond. Vera married Merle Evans, son of Tracy and Lillian Werner Evans on February 25, 1914. Murl married Enos Adams, son of William and Sarah Jane Kelly Adams, on May 31, 1916. Raymond married Beryl L. Poppin, daughter of F. R. Poppin, on June 2, 1928.
The Beer family owned and
operated a hotel and restaurant in Oakdale for many years and then moved to
Petersburg, Nebraska where Charles managed the Torpin Elevator and then was
Postmaster. He died in March
1925. Esther Beer returned to
Oakdale, married J. S. Stringfellow and died on August 17, 1967.
