William Harrison Bennett, son of Luther and Sophia Bennett, was born on March 28, 1888 at Mud Creek in Wheeler County, Nebraska. He married Alma Johanna Petersen, daughter of Andrew Petersen and Mathilda Hansen, in Neligh, Nebraska on July 19, 1919. Alma was born September 22, 1891 at Platte Center, Nebraska. They resided on a farm west of Elgin.
They were parents of two children: Kenneth Dale and Charlotte Faye. Alma died in 1935 and William moved with the children to Elgin where he worked with his brother, Charles. William died on June 16, 1946. Both children graduated from Elgin High. Kenneth spent six years in the Navy and married Jerrene Jillson. They had two sons, Luther Michael and William Paul. Charlotte taught rural school and married Delbert Schumacher, son of George and Lucy Leibel Schumacher on June 4, 1946. They had four children: Sharon, Roger, Maria and Wayne.
