Descending from Sweden, John and Gustof Anderson homesteaded south of Clearwater. At the request of her brothers, Mrs Johanna (Anderson) Bloom, Stockholm, Sweden and five year old son, Hermen, arrived in Neligh in 1893 where she worked in the Huffman home. Her sister, Augusta Grunvelle, Stockholm, took care of her three year old daughter, Judith.

Johanna made arrangements for Victor Carlson, Norby, Sweden to join her in America. They were married May 22, 1894 in Antelope County. The couple farmed near Clearwater for Prescott Hemenway until they purchased 160 acres six miles south of Clearwater. Victor, Johannah and youngest child, Ella, boarded the passenger ship, Lusitania, in 1911 and returned to Sweden for a visit. Mr and Mrs Carlson retired from farming in 1926 and moved to Neligh. He passed away January 22, 1933 and she on July 10, 1952. Four children were born: Edna Sophia born July 28, 1895, married Henry Phillip McDonald; Stanley F, born September 13, 1898, married Meta Schroer; Sixton Jarl born October 12, 1900, married Violet McDaniel; Ella Victoria born January 27, 1905, married Edward Christian Filsinger. Herman Victor Bloom Carlson, born in Sweden, July 16, 1889, married Ella Cynthia Luther in Neligh November 3, 1910. He operated a dray service.
