Joseph Henry Dredge was born May 10, 1832 in Cumberland County, Mifflin Township, Pennsylvania and died February 20, 1892 near Tilden, Nebraska.
Joseph married Isabelle French on January 4, 1855 in Mercer County, Illinois. Their five children were born there: John Wilson, Henry, Sarah Elizabeth, Mary Elmira and Hugh. Isabelle died a few days after Hugh's birth. Joseph enlisted in the Union Army on March 22, 1864 in Company F, 102nd Illinois Volunteers. He married Susan Hull Miller in Knoxville, Illinois. She was born November 19, 1831 in Pennsylvania and died August 22, 1912 in Tilden. Joseph and Susan had two sons, George Elmore and Ulysses Sires, and two daughters. George Elmore was born April 2, 1868, married Eliza Sophia Steffens (November 4, 1869 of Jo Davies County, Illinois) on June 24, 1891 at Neligh. Elizabeth's parents were Frederick and Catherine Margareta Rebecca Shubert Steffens. George died February 2, 1931 and Elizabeth on October 8, 1946. Josephine, daughter of Joseph and Susan, was born in February 1870. Ulysses Sires Dredge was born June 26, 1872 in Knox County, Illinois and died November 28, 1936. He married Margaret Esther Duncan in 1896, daughter of William and Mary Duncan. She died October 7, 1943. Minnie May Dredge was born June 26, 1872 at Ashland, Nebraska. She married Martin George on July 13, 1912. Minnie died November 10, 1947 at St Edward.
