Joseph George was born in Northampton County,
Pennsylvania, April 4, 1838, the son of Elias and Magdalene (Rieben)
George. He married Sarah Rauch in
1859. She was born August 16, 1842. They had eleven children. Mr George left his eastern home with his
family in about 1877 and took a homestead in Antelope County, northeast of
Neligh. Mrs. George died March 11,
1881. Joseph retired and made his
home with his son, Martin. He died
August 24, 1913. Their children: William; Seville (1862-1919) who married
Frederick Shabram; Mary (1866-1952) married Carsten Petersen; Cassenda
(1867-1909) married Andrew Anderson, Frank, Milton, Ella (1874-1935) married
David Clemens, Amanda (1876-1921) married Hans Michaelson, Fred, Martin
married Minnie Dredge.
