Lawrence Josten, son of Joseph Josten and Anna Penne, was
born February 8, 1909 at Elgin, Nebraska. He attended country and St Boniface schools. As a young man he farmed with his father. In 1940, Lawrence entered the Armed
Forces, serving stateside for four years, after which he returned to
farming. Elizabeth Margaret Scholl,
daughter of Anton Scholl and Catherine Esch, was born February 19, 1905 on a
farm west of Raeville, Nebraska. Elizabeth attended rural and Raeville schools. On June 23, 1949, Lawrence and Elizabeth
were married in Raeville. They began
their married life on a farm west of Raeville. In 1950, they moved to a farm south of Elgin and farmed there
all their married life. Lawrence
retired from farming in 1977 and died in 1979. Elizabeth married Anton Reuss on June 23, 1981.
