Melvin Kallhoff, son of Theodore Kallhoff and Theresa Reuss, was born January 22, 1929 at Elgin. He attended St Boniface school and worked for various farmers in the area until he was inducted in the U S Army in May 1951. He served two years and spent time in Korea. He was discharged in 1953 and has been engaged in farming. Patricia Starman, daughter of William Starman and Helen Penne, was born on June 18, 1936 at Elgin. She attended rural schools and St Boniface School where she graduated in 1953.
Melvin and Patricia were married on April
26, 1954 in Elgin. They lived on a
farm southwest of Elgin, then on a farm north of town and now reside west of
Elgin since 1965. They are the
parents of nine children: Doris,
David, Janice, Jerald, Beverly, Merle, Lori, Sheila, and Randy.
