LeRoy Kerkman, son of August Kerkman and Helen Meis, was born March 26, 1946 and attended St Boniface School. He graduated from Milford Technical College in July 1971 in Electrical Technology. His siblings are LaVonne, Leland and Leon. Linda Marie Weiland, daughter of Gilbert Anthony Weiland and Viola Goodwater, was born March 28, 1950 in Madison, Nebraska. She graduated from St Francis School of Nursing in Grand Island. He siblings are Leon, Dianne, Gerard, Vernon and Mary.
LeRoy and Linda were married on April I,
1972 in Madison. They farmed northeast
of Elgin for nine years and then purchased the Kerkman home place southeast
of town. LeRoy continued to farm and
Linda worked at Antelope Memorial Hospital and then the Neligh Nursing
Center. They are parents of four
children: Julie Lynn, Jeremie Lee,
Jared Joseph and Jesse Joel.
