William Kerkman, son of Fred Kerkman and Cecilia Kuhl, was born November 10, 1901 at Lindsay, Nebraska. The family moved to Elgin when he was eight. He attended school at St Boniface and then farmed with his father. Luella Kuester, daughter of John Kuester and Josephine Lampman, was born on April 2,1906 at Elgin. She attended St Boniface and graduated from Elgin Public School.
Willliam
and Luella were married October 25, 1927 in Elgin. They had ten children: Louis, Joyce, Alice, Phyllis, Jim, Leonard, Dean, Mildred, Joan, and
Cyril. They lived on a farm north of
Elgin. Luella died October 15, 1958
at Norfolk. William retire in 1981 to
Elgin.
