Bernard Kluthe, son of Joseph Kluthe and Julianna Vogel, was born at Dodge, Nebraska on September 9, 1886. His parents came from Germany and homesteaded west of Dodge. Julia Miller was born in Howells, Nebraska to George Miller and Mary Bussesmess on April 24, 1887. Her parents had come from Germany also.
Bernard and Julia were married
at Dodge on January 13, 1909 and then moved to Cedar Rapids, Nebraska. They lived there until 1918 when they
moved to the Elgin area. They lived
on a farm southwest of town. They had
six children: Lee, Joseph, Behilda,
Veronica, Roman and Urban. They left
Elgin in 1926 and lived at St Edward. The family, minus Lee and Joe, moved to California in 1935. Bernard died there on January 11,
1949. Julia remarried in 1954 to
William Bogner. She died in
California on July 5, 1980.
