William Lappe, son of Henry Lappe and Frances Hoefer of Butte, South Dakota, was born on February 11, 1885.  Edith Kadiera, daughter of Moritz and Julia Kadiera, was born in Germany on September 21, 1881.  The family came to America when Edith was two years old and settled in Rising City, Nebraska and then moved to Elgin in 1901. 

Edith and William were married on October 2, 1906 in Elgin.  Three children were born:  Maurice on January 23, 1908, Helen M on May 31, 1909 and Eva J on February 1, 1912.  William and Maurice were engaged in farming and ranching.  The family moved to Newcastle, Wyoming in 1930.  Helen married Frank Dinslage in 1930 and remained in Elgin.  Maurice married Elsie Peterson in 1933 and Eva married Leo Cummings in 1934.  William and Edith moved back to Elgin in 1950.  William died in June 1953 and Edith on May 26, 1968.
